An End to Procrastination

by Megan on March 3, 2010

Don’t you hate it when you procrastinate? You have to write that email, blog post, or what-have-you and you keep putting it off. Maybe it’s because you don’t want to think about it. Or you’re a little scared of not doing it well… or the response you’ll get. Or maybe you’re “too busy” (if it’s important – you’re not too busy).

Well, I came across this great site called Write or Die. You set a writing goal for yourself and if you don’t meet it the site “punishes” you. It could be as low-key as an annoying pop-up or as extreme as erasing you work. All you have to do is set your goal and start writing.

And, ok, this isn’t really an end to procrastination. For instance, I’ve been procrastinating trying it out all day. But, look, it made me write something. Success.

Hi Megan! Great to meet you at Joe’s birthday party last Thursday. :)

Three things that I immediately love about / identify with on your blog:

    1) The title. I’m a recovering full-time perfectionist… Which would make me a part-time perfectionist, too. That’s a great way to put it. :) I realized that being a full-time perfectionist almost killed me and was doing more harm than good.

    2) This blog post. I’m a horrible procrastinator when it comes to writing, so I’m eager to try WRITE OR DIE. (I also suggest trying Rescuetime as a time management app if you’d like some extra help!)

    3) Your approach to your blog. I’ve been really, really wanting to start my own blog for years but keep putting it off because I think it will require time I don’t have. (Being a perfectionist, I think I’m supposed to write essays containing brilliant insights in every post once a week, which makes me want to write the whole idea off.) However, here, you have insightful snippets in digestible lengths when you’re able to post them. Now, this, I could do. :)

Keep it up! See you on the intarwebs.

    Lauren
